Welcome to Gentle Spark Counseling

The name Gentle Spark reflects the heart of my approach to therapy.

I believe meaningful change begins with gentleness—offering ourselves compassion, curiosity, and kindness as we explore the stories and patterns that have shaped us. Growth can’t be forced instead it must be nurtured. Before we can move in the direction we long for, we must first acknowledge our past and present with tenderness.

Growth also needs a spark—a flicker, a moment of clarity, or a small but brave step. Even when change feels unattainable, it only takes one spark, one shift, one percent of movement to begin transforming our lives. Gentle Spark is about honoring both: the power of softness and the fervor of courage.

Meet Katie

Katie Firedancing

Licensed Professional Counselor

Hello! I’m Katie, a therapist specializing in attachment and developmental trauma, couples therapy, and mood disorders. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, and adolescents in a private practice setting. My passion lies in helping people identify and heal core wounds, releasing the weight of unprocessed trauma so they can move forward with a greater sense of gentleness and self-compassion.

I’m trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and I hold a Master’s in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in Marital and Family Therapy from Grand Canyon University.

When working with couples—both married and premarital—I draw from Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method to support healthier, more connected relationships. As a married woman myself, I understand the beauty and challenge of sharing a life with another person. I believe marriage can be one of the most transformational unions we experience, and I’m passionate about helping couples nurture strong, secure attachments.

In my work with individuals, I employ trauma informed modalities like EMDR and Internal Family Systems to support the reprocessing and effective consolidation of trauma. With this holistic and trauma informed lens I hold space for my clients to foster a sense of gentleness and compassion within themselves.

Outside of the office, I spend my time running around with my kiddos, chilling on the couch with my husband, drinking some iced tea, or diving into whatever creative project has captured my attention at the moment.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost

Under the recently enacted No Surprises Act, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059
